Challenge

After a series of acquisitions, Oracle’s Identity Management Division had a significant challenge—a lack of teamwork that was leading to bugs and technical issues, ultimately resulting in a delayed time to market. This issues was plaguing the leadership team, and they decided to make sure the next product cycles were more effective.

Strategy & Execution

We worked with the leadership of the Identity Management organization to develop and implement a program called the Collaborative Leadership Program. This included working with the four major groups of this division to create a shared vision, and goals and projects that only succeed when worked on collaboratively.

Results

The effect of this program was that the groups started working together in a more effective manner, including integrating into one culture across the Identity Management group. Most importantly, their major issues of time to market were addressed, with a 37% faster time to market in the next product cycle with 23% fewer bugs.

Having just come through a turnaround period in the company, Novanta was ready for a culture change. Previously there had been more of a command and control environment, which was needed for the challenging times, but with the advent of a new CEO, and the turnaround complete, it was time for a new era.

We worked with the CEO, and the leadership team to find a way for more inclusiveness and bringing out the best in everyone at the company. This was a massive culture shift as everyone was used to the politics and infighting from the old guard. But now, with Matthijs Glastra at the helm, the company and the leadership team embraced delegating controls to the capable hands of their teams so that they could focus on an even more cohesive vision and strategy to move into the next exciting phase of the company.

Results

Over the two years that Novanta worked with Burst Forward, Matthijas had a successful transition to CEO, and lead his team and company to double their revenue resulting in a 100% increase in their stock price and market capitalization.

Challenge

Informatica’s Product Management Division moved to a matrixed organization, which allowed them to be more nimble, but all of a sudden they had issues with alignment and communication. This was negatively affecting their decision making across the division, which ultimately led to decreased effectiveness internally on their teams, and externally with customers.

Strategy & Execution

Informatica’s division worked with Burst Forward to first identify the issues. This was uncovered via assessments, stakeholder interviews, and mapping out the key concerns. These were then vetted with the business leaders, and the issues were put on the table to be resolved. Additionally, Burst Forward worked with top leaders to make sure that the new strategies and goals were cascaded into the organization.

Results

The final result was a more aligned leadership team, clear strategy and goals throughout the division, and a greater sense of clarity and communication that was able to be cascaded into the organization.

During the time Lyft worked with Burst Forward, this business unit experienced 50x growth in revenue. They then went on to be a successful part of the organization contributing over one billion dollars to the company’s revenue within a three year period and helping the company go public.
