Your Zone of Excellence is Holding You Back

You perform really well when you’re in your zone of excellence.

Maybe too much so.

Your zone of excellence is what you know you’re good at—but it holds you back.

And it holds you back because it keeps you from working at an even higher level.

You can be the best damn caterpillar in the world, but that has nothing to do with being a butterfly.

This is something different.

It’s called your zone of genius, and you may not even know it exists.

It’s the place where time stops, and you are literally “in the zone.” All truly peak performance comes from this place.

This is not the case for the zone of excellence. In this zone we are really good, but we’re still working to make it happen.

You know you’re in your zone of genius because you flow so naturally here. It’s fun. You could do it all day. Your zone of genius is the product of you tapping into your intuition and inherent nature—it’s the part of you that you couldn’t deny even if you tried.

It’s often the case that you don’t even recognize your Zone of Genius—you think, “that’s not special, that’s just me!”

To step into your zone of genius, you probably have to let go of your zone of excellence.

This can be scary because it’s what you’re good at, and what you have gotten validation for all these years.
